  • 3 afternoon activities and 1 weekend excursion (courses longer than one week) with your homestay family.
  • Learn in a safe and relaxed and hospitable family environment.
  • Ideal for school exam preparation: Abitur, Prepa, Bac, Matura, IB, IGCSE and many more. Supplementary fees apply.

Safeguarding and Pastoral Care

The safety and security of our Young Learner students is our highest priority.

Our comprehensive Safeguarding Policy outlines how recruit, visit, train and observe our host tutors and their families to make sure that all Young Learners are warmly welcomed and cared for throughout their course.

Students are collected at the airport on arrival and comprehensively looked after – both during lessons and excursions, and during free time – from the moment they first arrive at their host tutor’s home.

Host tutors treat Young Learners as they would their own children: as a genuine and full member of the family!

Hours per Week

Students aged 14-17 may choose 15, 20, 25 or 30 hours per week. 10-13 year olds take the special Super Junior programme, with 15 hours’ formal tuition and 10 hours extra excursions and activities.

In addition, students will normally receive some homework or a project to complete out of class.

Young Learner Student FAQs

All Young Learner courses include three accompanied afternoon activities per week (Monday – Friday), with a full-day excursion at the weekend for courses longer than one week. Your host tutor will discuss what activity and excursion options you have during the first day of your course, so that you can plan out what you will do and when. The cost of activities and excursions is covered in your course fee, but if there is something in particular you would like to do or somewhere in particular you would like to go during your course, please let us know in advance, as there may be an additional charge.

On the afternoons when you don’t have an activity or excursion scheduled, your host tutor may allow you independent free time to spend in the local area. It is important that you respect their house rules regarding where you can and can’t go, and when you must be home by.

Don’t worry – we always make sure that you are never left to get bored!

All students must take out suitable travel insurance before commencing their InTuition Languages home tuition programme.

Young Learner students receive Guard.me insurance cover as part of their standard course fee.

For adults, we can arrange specialised cover for just £5.25 per student per week. Please contact us for full information.

Our courses are designed around each student’s needs and requirements – academic, social and personal. This makes us ideal for a student with special requirements or disabilities.

We have a number of host tutors with a wealth of experience and training in teaching students with special learning needs like dyslexia and audio processing.

For us to best serve the student and offer a unique learning and cultural experience it is fundamental that we receive full details of the student’s learning and social skills during the enquiry process.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us directly.

InTuition Languages is accredited through Accreditation UK to issue Short Term Study visas for courses up to six months in length. You may need to apply for this kind of visa if you are not from an EEA country or a Swiss national.

As part of our course application service for international students, we issue all documentation required and have it couriered directly to you, for a small fee.

If, for whatever reason, your visa is refused, we guarantee a full refund of your entire course fee.

Please contact us if you have any questions about applying for a Short Term Study visa to study with InTuition.

International House language schools’ mobile vocabulary book helps you store words that you learn in class or pick up on your travels so that you can refer to them later.

Includes voice recording to aid pronunciation, self-translate into two languages, word search facility and photo reference.

Overseas visitors who become ill while in Britain are only eligible for free emergency treatment in the Accident and Emergency departments of National Health Service hospitals. If you are admitted to hospital as an in-patient, even from an accident and emergency department, or referred to an out-patient clinic, you will be asked to pay unless you are a national or resident of the European Economic Area.

If you are an EU / EEA national, you should apply for a European Health Insurance Card before leaving home and bring it with you when you travel to the UK. It guarantees that you will be provided with emergency healthcare treatment free of charge.

Nationals or residents of countries which have reciprocal health care agreements with the UK are also exempt from charges. As of January 2016, the following countries have reciprocal agreements in place:

  • Anguilla
  • Australia
  • Barbados
  • Bosnia and Herzegovina
  • British Virgin Islands
  • Falkland Islands
  • Jersey
  • Kosovo
  • Macedonia
  • Montenegro
  • Montserrat
  • New Zealand
  • Serbia
  • St Helena
  • Turks and Caicos Islands
  • Gibraltar

Exemption from charges applies only to treatment needed during the visit. It is still necessary to take out appropriate  travel insurance before your course.

Obtaining treatment

If you are unwell during your visit to Britain, your teacher will be able to help you with arranging a visit to a pharmacist, doctor or hospital. In an emergency, dial 999 from any phone. Our 24-hour emergency number can also be called.

To ensure that your course passes in the most enjoyable and productive way, we ask that you respect our Code of Conduct throughout your stay:

  • Take responsibility for your learning, motivation, security and safety
  • Show respect for your host tutor and their professional opinions
  • Recognise and keep to the house rules your host tutor sets
  • Appreciate the culture of the country you are staying in
  • Stick to agreed timings for lessons and excursions – don’t be late
  • Complete any homework that your host tutor may set for you
  • Speak to your host tutor or our head office team if you are in any way uncomfortable or unhappy

Students who repeatedly fail to respect the Code of Conduct may be asked to leave their course early.

The safety and security of our Young Learners is always our top priority.

That’s why we arrange transfers on arrival and departure, to and from the airport to the host tutor’s home. Students don’t have to worry  about anything – everything is arranged for them, personally. We confirm all details in advance, so students know exactly who will be waiting to collect them, and we are always available on our 24-hour number if there are any problems.
