North England
Traditionally the North of England is the industrial heart of Britain, with large, industrial cities like Manchester, Leeds, and Liverpool. This is not the only aspect the North of England is famous for: it still boasts beautiful scenery with the Lake District and the people are famously friendly. The major cities in this area are Liverpool, Manchester, Sheffield and Leeds.

Liverpool
Liverpool is located on the west coast of England and it used to be a major port. 40 percent of all trading in the world went through Liverpool’s port. Since the 60s more and more tourists have come to Liverpool; mostly because the success of world’s most famous band The Beatles. Several areas in the city have been granted World Heritage Site status by UNESCO. In 2009 Liverpool was European Capital of Culture. Liverpool FC is one of the most successful football clubs in the world.
Manchester
Manchester has a comprehensive music scene and in the city many great bands have been formed, including Joy Division, Oasis, and Elbow. China Town is definitely worth seeing and it is also recommended to, if possible, attend a football match of Manchester United. Beautiful architecture can also be found, proves the Manchester Town Hall.
Buxton
The beautiful Spa town of Buxton is the largest town in the absolutely astonishing Peak District National Parc. Buxton is home to the Poole Cavern, a two million year old limestone cavern, and St. Ann’s Well, but these are just a few examples of the great things Buxton has to offer. The Buxton town centre offers great places to have a drink, listen to live music, and eat, and that all surrounded by gorgeous architecture and landscapes. The area can be really inspiring, and it is a great place to learn English.
