Homestay Tutor in Killala, Ireland

Patricia taught at International House in Budapest for 2 years and has experience at other schools in Britain. She speaks some French, and teaches preparation for all the Cambridge exams and TOEFL.

Home/location

Her home is a 1960s style semi-detached house which overlooks the sea from the back. She lives in a small town on the West coast of Ireland which offers some of the best sea and river fishing in Europe. The seaside village is called Killala (County Mayo), near to the small town of Ballina which is 40 miles from Sligo, 160 miles from Dublin and 70 miles from Galway. The village has some great pubs. This is real Ireland!

Student's room

A comfortable room. There is broadband available and students can have internet access via their own laptop.

Family/interests

Patricia is in her sixties, but young minded and very active. She has a lot of younger students and executives to stay and they all love the place. She has three adult children who are around some of the time. She was a journalist before becoming a teacher and is interested in international affairs, swimming, riding, is a good conversationalist and has had a book on local history published. She is happy to take students to Sligo and has become something of an expert on Yeats. She will take students to the pub, which is a real part of the culture on the West coast of Ireland and they will meet a lot of friendly and talkative people.
