Overview

A course for managers and team members of international distributed teams, communicating by email, tele-conference and video-cenference calls. One of the biggest headaches in international management, working with virtual distributed teams means dealing with the business expectations of each team member nationality. This course trains managers and team members in what business differences to expect and how to take account of them in day-to-day communication.

The course has been adapted to for delivery at international team face-to-face meetings.

  • Characteristics of virtual distributed teams (VDT).

  • Communication styles differences - email, telephone and video.

  • Differences in values and attitudes and manifestations in behaviour.

  • The three types of culture.

  • Understanding your own communication style and comparing it with others.

  • Recognising and dealing with cross-cultural communication problems.

NOTE: As part of this course we can offer the astounding successful 'Towers of Deurdia' simulation, a two hour brilliant introduction to dealing with cross-cultural issues and a strong bonding agent for team members with lessons for teamworking, and team leadership, co-ordination and presentation.
